Etihad Aviation Group’s cargo and logistics arm, Etihad Cargo, delivered 17 rally cars for the inaugural FIA World Rallycross Abu Dhabi 2019.

Serving as the official airline partner for the motorsport event, Etihad Cargo also delivered over 200 cubic metres of spare parts along with the racing vehicles. The special cargo was transported on the airline’s Boeing 777F aircraft from Liege to Abu Dhabi.

Commenting on the project, Bader Al Ali, Etihad Cargo business development manager, said: “We are immensely proud to be part of this event, which is coming to Abu Dhabi for the first time ever thanks to our partners at Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management and Yas Marina Circuit.

“This is the perfect way to celebrate FlightValet, which we launched last year in response to growing demand as our experience and reputation for care, professionalism and ease of use has become more widely known.”

Steve Hall, director of Sponsorship, Yas Marina Circuit, added: “The inaugural FIA World Rallycross of Abu Dhabi will be one of our largest public events and promises three days of spectacular on and off-track entertainment.

“This type of event couldn’t happen without world-class logistics support, and for this reason we are delighted to be working alongside Etihad Cargo on this flagship project, continuing a longstanding association with one of our key partners.”

As part of the Urban Festival that is scheduled to run from 4 – 6 April, the lead-up to FIA World Rallycross Abu Dhabi 2019 will include two support races: Yas Super Street Challenge – Drag racing, and Monster Energy Emirates Drift Championship.
