Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED), claimed the top spot in the General Authority of Civil Aviation’s (GACA) February performance report for Saudi airports catering to over 15 million passengers annually.

The airport scored a 91% compliance rate, followed closely by Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in second place with an 82% rating.
GACA evaluates airports against 11 operational performance benchmarks, aligning with strategic goals to enhance services and streamline the traveller journey across the kingdom’s airports.
In the category of international airports handling 5 to 15 million passengers annually, King Fahd International Airport (DMM) in Dammam and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah (MED) shared the top position, each boasting a 91% compliance rate.
However, DMM edged ahead of its competitor, particularly in average wait times at check-in, along with other key performance metrics.

In the 2 to 5 million annual passenger category, Abha International Airport (AHB) and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Airport in Jizan (GIZ) both achieved a perfect 100% compliance rate. Nevertheless, AHB surpassed GIZ in meeting higher targets across various evaluation criteria, especially in average waiting times at security and passport control.
Meanwhile, in the less than 2 million annual passengers category, Al-Ahsa International Airport (HOF) achieved a flawless 100% compliance rate, excelling in average wait times at passport control for both arrivals and departures.
Domestic airports
On the domestic front, Arar Airport (RAE) led the pack, with a perfect 100% compliance rate, owing to its superior performance in average waiting times for departing and arriving flights.
GACA’s assessment of airport performance focuses on critical passenger touchpoints such as check-in, security, passport control, customs, baggage claim, and assistance for passengers with reduced mobility (PRM).
