IAG Cargo, the cargo division of the International Airline Group (IAG), lifted over 50,000kg of freight on a single flight between Mumbai and London earlier this month.
The cargo flight, operated by a British Airways B777-300ER aircraft, was a record for IAG Cargo from India.
The cargo comprised of a mix of products including perishables, pharma and courier. However, it was the large amount of high dense engineering goods, destined for Europe and North America, that made the difference on weight.
In August, IAG Cargo completed its 200th cargo-only flight out of India since May.
“Air cargo is a vital part of the business here at IAG and at the start of the pandemic, to support our customers we were one of the first airlines to offer dedicated charter and cargo-only flights,” Ankush Chawla, area commercial manager for South Asia at IAG Cargo.
“This milestone demonstrates dedication to our customers, highlighting the commitment from the IAG Cargo India team on the ground.
“The achievement would not have been possible without the unconditional support from our business partners. We’ve been incredibly proud to be supporting Indian businesses during this time.”
Since the start of the pandemic, IAG Cargo has established a network of over 340 scheduled cargo-only flights per week, now operating daily services out of Mumbai and Delhi and multiple weekly services out of Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
