The big reveal from this presser is the launch of Etihad Regional - looks like we might see it in other parts of the world.
Deal with Darwin brings secondary routes into Etihad's network. Darwin will brand its planes Etihad Regional.
Darwin will add 20 new routes in 2014. New routes complement networks of Etihad and its equity partners.
16.05 ETIHAD PRESS CONFERENCE
In its third press conference of the day, Etihad Airways announces that it is to launch its first branded regional operation after taking a 33.3% stake in Swiss carrrier Darwin Airline.
Etihad Airways order with CFM International is for 52 LEAP-1A engines to power 26 new Airbus A321neo aircraft. The airline has also ordered 1150 Rolls Royce engines.

And back to the Etihad conference, James Hogan says the Midfield Terminal will be delivered on time and Abu Dhabi Airport Company CEO Tony Douglas is the right man to achieve this.

And now @Boeing CEO Jim McNerney announces 777X officially. Vale of commitments from four airlines worth US$100 billion. Two models - 8 and 9. Claims it will be most efficient plane on the market. Proud of Emirates' confidence in plane.
12.12 QATAR AIRWAYS
Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker announces letter of intent for 50 777Xs worth US$19 billion.
12.09pm EMIRATES/FLYDUBAI ANNOUNCE ORDERS
Sheikh Ahmed announces order for 150 777Xs plus 50 purchase rights. flydubai buying 100 737-MAXs. emirates order worth US$76 billion including GE engines.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has also just arrived...
Emirates and Qatar Airways staff at the press conference - joint announcement maybe? "Model planes under a black shroud" is the word from AVB's editorial team... Boeing people also at the press conference room.

The 2013 Dubai Airshow starts with a massive story following Etihad's US$25.2 billion order with Boeing. The order includes 25 next-generation Boeing 777X aircraft of which 17 are 777-9X and eight are 777-8X aircraft. Etihad Airways is the first airline to order the 777-8X and will be a launch customer for the aircraft which is expected to enter service around the end of the decade. The airline also ordered 30 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners. Today’s announcement makes Etihad Airways the largest airline customer for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
