Global aerospace manufacturer Boeing has reported a highly successful 2017 year that saw the company deliver more commercial aircraft that any manufacturer for the sixth consecutive, as well as set an industry record for 763 deliveries in 2017.

Additionally, thanks to healthy growth in demand for single-aisle and twin-aisle aircraft, Boeing has been awarded 912 net orders valued at $134.8bn and has extended its backlog to a record of 5,864 aeroplanes.

Kevin McAllister, president & CEO, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said: “The record-setting performance is a testament to our employees and supplier partners who continue to innovate new ways to design, build and deliver the most fuel-efficient aeroplanes to customers around the world.”

During the same period, Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner program enjoyed a high production rate that saw the delivery of 136 aircraft for 2017.

"The strong sales activity reflects continuing strong demand for the 737 MAX family, including the ultra-efficient MAX 10 variant that we launched last year, and the market's increasing preference for Boeing's family of twin-aisle jets," added McAllister.

"Our planned production increases over the coming years are designed to satisfy this robust demand."
