The Global Aerospace Summit and Arab Aviation Summit, which were due to take place in the UAE this month, have been postponed.
The events were expected to draw hundreds of delegates and feature top industry speakers.
But the organisers of Arab Aviation Summit fear that the Covid-19 outbreak could impact the number of delegates and speakers able to attend the event.
Travel restrictions in the region and the advice of governments not to travel have seen events across industries postponed and cancelled in recent weeks. The Dubai International Boat Show, scheduled to take place from Tuesday, was postponed until November.
In a statement, the organisers of Arab Aviation Summit said the event has been postponed because of “directives of UAE authorities” and “overall market sentiment”.
“This decision is also to ensure that we host an optimal event attendant by all key stakeholders providing business and networking opportunities for our partners and attendees,” the statement said.
A report from Reuters quoted an email sent by the organisers of the Global Aerospace Summit to partners, saying: “Due to the international profile of Summit attendees and current travel restrictions in place driven by Covid-19, stakeholders believe postponement is necessary."
