Global engineering group and airport systems integrator Cavotec has secured a contract to supply advanced ground support equipment for the new Emirates Engineering Center A380 Line Maintenance Hangars at the Dubai International Airport.

Under the terms of the contract with construction contractor, A + P (Cyprus), Cavotec will supply, install and commission in-ground pop-up utility pits and Pre-Conditioned Air (PCA) Units for four new A380 Line Maintenance Hangars at Emirates Engineering Center. Delivery is due to start in the second quarter of 2013, with commissioning slated in the end of 2013. Cavotec’s equipment has previously been selected by Emirates Engineering Center to provide utility services to the Emirates fleet.

Emirates Engineering Center is one of the largest and most advanced aviation maintenance centres in the world having the largest single free-spanning roof structure in the Middle East.  With the new addition of four line maintenance hangars, Emirates Engineering Center will have 12 hangars, spanning an area of 55 hectares on the north side of Dubai International Airport.

Cavotec’s in-ground pop-up systems serve the Dubai International Airport’s equipment Concourse C, Concourse B, and the newly opened Concourse A. These pop-up systems supply parked aircraft with water, fuel, power and pre-conditioned air. Cavotec pop-up systems enable airports to reduce their use of mobile diesel-driven equipment, increasing operational efficiency, resulting in cleaner air and a clearer tarmac apron.
