A new airport will be constructed in Babel province in Iraq at a cost of $2 billion, IraqiNews.com has reported.
The airport will serve the Mid-Euphrates provinces of Babel, Karbala and Najaf.
Babel deputy governor, Engineer Ali Abdul Siheil, said: “The airport will be established by EDB French Company with a cost of $2 billion. There were extended meetings held among the representatives of the three provinces to discuss the designs and the studies done by the French Company over the future benefits of the airport.”
The head of Babel Investment Committee, Ala Harba said: “The airport will have positive incomes to activate the tourism, social and scientific activities in these provinces.”
