The business aviation sector is expected to provide a significant boost to aviation district Dubai South this year when Expo2020 launches.

Home to Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai South will welcome private jets from across the world during the six-month long expo, which could mean a 25% jump in revenues.

In an interview with The National, Tahnoon Saif, chief executive of the Mohammed Bin Rashid (MBR) Aerospace Hub, said that MBR expected to see a 20% YoY increase in turnover in 2019.

He told the newspaper: “We are working with the relevant authorities to create a unique experience for private jet owners and business people who are coming on private jets.

“We are expecting to see growth [in passenger traffic].”

Saif added that the MBR Aerospace Hub expects to sign up six new customers this year, adding to its family of tenants including the likes of Boeing, General Electric and Lufthansa Technik.

The new clients are expected to draw around Dh1bn of investments into the MBR Aerospace Hub between this year and next, according to the interview with Saif.
