Dubai International receives 6.9 million passengers in February

In February 2018, Dubai International (DXB) reported roughly 7 million passengers visited the airport. According to the monthly traffic report released by operator Dubai Airports, the monthly traffic in February totalled 6,928,547 compared to 6,948,157 passengers recorded during the same month in 2017. This marked a marginal decrease of 0.3%.

Additionally, the report noted that year-to-date traffic reached 14,888,693 passengers. This marked a 0.6% decrease compared to 14,985,165 recorded during the first two months of 2017.

Travellers from Eastern Europe remained the fastest expanding market in terms of passenger traffic growing by 17.6%. The region was quickly followed by South America and CIS, which held 13.3% and 12.1%, respectively.

In terms of top destinations by passenger volumes, India remained in the lead boasting a total of 962,425 passengers during the month. It was followed by the UK with 505,255 passengers, Saudi Arabia with 490,058, and Pakistan with 336,875 passengers. London became the top destination city with 305,768 passengers.

Dubai Airport’s reported also noted that year-to-date freight volumes reached 393,808 tonnes during the first two months of the year.  In 2017, the figure reached 400,976 tonnes during the same period.
