Flying rights for Bahrain Air to Thiruvananthapuram, capital of the Indian state of Kerala, have been temporarily extended for a month, Bahrain’s Daily Tribune has reported. The airline has twice faced rights issues in the city.
“The airline’s request has been looked into and also taking into consideration the request of the public, who had put in many representations to retain the only flight to Thiruvananthapiram, we had extended the rights for a month,” said Indian Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal. “As per the bilateral agreements that exist between India and Bahrain, the renewal of rights is being done for Gulf Air, the national carrier. It is up to the Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to raise its request on similar rights for Bahrain Air.”
Raju Pillia, Bahrain Air’s commercial operations director, had earlier told the Daily Tribune that the airline was hopeful to renew the rights within a week so that there will be no services issues from January 1.
