Emirates Airline was forced to ground an Airbus A340-300 in Munich for around three hours this week, due to technical difficulties with the aircraft, it has been reported.
Crew members on a Dubai-Munich flight reported they had “lost all hydraulics” while approaching runway 26R at their destination airport, reported Aviation Herald.
“The gear was stuck down and they had no nose wheel steering requested 5 to 10 minutes at 5000 feet to work the relevant checklists,” the website stated.
“The aircraft entered a holding at 5000 feet north of the aerodrome. About 10 minutes later the crew reported they had actually lost one of the hydraulic systems and would need to stop on the runway before deciding whether they could taxi off on their own or needed a tow.”
The aircraft landed safely on the runway around 35 minutes after aborting the first approach and remained grounded for approximately three hours. It was subsequently cleared to depart on its return flight to Dubai and arrived with a total delay of one hour.
