State-run carrier Kuwait Airways has resumed flights following the end of strike action by workers calling for better pay, it has been reported.
Official news agency KUNA said that operations had recommenced based on instructions by the Kuwaiti Prime Minister to the board of Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC).
Yousef Al-Humaidi, chairman of the board at KAC, said that the demands by the airline employees’ labour union, notably pay rises, must go through legal channels and should not harm the carrier financially.
At present, there is a sufficient number of staff at the airport to operate all scheduled flights for this evening, which are based on plans setup previously, he added.
“An emergency 35-member team representing various departments in the company has been working during the strike, ready for the call to end the strike and restart operation schedule,” Al-Humaidi said.
Al-Humaidi also showed his sorrow to passengers for the cancellation of flights, reassuring them that providing all their necessary needs is important.
