flydubai expands GCC network

flydubai, Dubai’s first low-cost airline, is expanding its GCC network to include Kuwait City and Muscat.

Flights to Muscat will begin on March 28 and services to Kuwait will commence on March 30.

The added double-daily services take flydubai’s network to 13 destinations.

The airline’s existing 11 destinations are: Beirut, Amman, Damascus and Aleppo, Alexandria, Djibouti, Doha, Khartoum, Baku, Bahrain and Kathmandu.

Flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said a strong GCC network was at the heart of flydubai’s strategy.

“In this region Kuwait and Oman were natural choices to be our next two destinations. Both are old friends of the UAE and we are deeply committed to strengthening our links further by providing the friendly low-cost air service with the lowest prices that flydubai is becoming known for.”

Oman is placing a strong emphasis on boosting its tourism traffic with the Sultanate’s aim to host 12 million tourists by 2020.

flydubai has confirmed more GCC destinations will be added to its network during 2010.
