Oman Air halts flights to Europe

Oman Air has confirmed that its flights to the UK, France, and Germany were cancelled on 15th and 16th April, after the air traffic control authorities in each of those countries closed their airspace.

The closure is due to the ash cloud caused by a volcanic eruption in Iceland and currently moving across Europe, which the airline states is posing “a significant safety threat to aircraft, as debris can get sucked into airplane engines”.

“We are doing everything we can to ensure our booked and stranded passengers are looked after in Muscat as well as overseas destinations. We want our passengers to rest assured that their safety is our utmost concern and we will do all we can to help alleviate the inconvenience caused by the disruption of their journey. We are closely monitoring the situation and hope to be returning to normal conditions as soon as possible,” stated an Oman Air spokesperson.

All passengers are advised to check the status of their flight before leaving for the airport.
