Last week’s bomb scare involving a PIA plane may have been down to the upset former partner of one of the plane’s passengers.
The Karachi-bound plane, which took off in Canada, was forced to land in Sweden after a caller said a male passenger on the plane may be carrying explosives.
According to online reports, the caller was the former partner of the accused man, who was on his way to Pakistan to get married. The man has now been released without charge after no explosives were found on the plane.
“From what I understood, an ex came forward with the claim in connection with their separation,” officer Haakan Westing was reported as saying.
The accused man was due to leave Sweden on Monday.
Canadian police are reported to be considering action against the hoax caller.
