Al Bateen Executive Airport has announced a 34.4% increase in aircraft movements in the first six months of this year, in comparison to the same period in 2009.
“Al Bateen Executive Airport has shown exceptional growth for the first half of 2010, generating 3,973 commercial traffic movements, which is 34.3% ahead of last year, with all based operators seeing excellent performances,” stated Mohammed Al Bulooki, vice president of Al Bateen Executive Airport.
“As an airport dedicated to business aviation, these significant increases reflect the increasing volume of business traffic visiting Abu Dhabi. This strong growth in commercial traffic is expected to peak in November with the Abu Dhabi Formula One events, taking place from October to November of 2010.”
In anticipation of further increases in traffic, ADAC has commenced on a re-development plan for the private aviation airport. Phase 1 is tailored to the necessary developments needed to accommodate the second Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November.
“Al Bateen Executive Airport will offer free landing and parking to all visiting VIP aircraft using the Executive Terminal for the duration of the 2010 Formula 1 event in Abu Dhabi between the 11th and the 14th of November,” said Yousif Al Hammadi, deputy general manager at Al Bateen Executive Airport.
Operators based at Al Bateen include Al Jaber Aviation, Falcon Aviation, Prestige Jet, and XO Jet.
