The CEO of RAK Airways has confirmed that the airline’s flight schedule will not be impacted by the official forty day mourning period following the death of the emirate’s ruler.

Omar Jahameh, CEO of RAK Airways, told Arabian Business that all scheduled flights would operate as planned and would not be impacted by the 40 day mourning period announced to mourn the death of His Highness Sheikh Saqr Al Qasimi.

RAK Airways recently restarted flights on October 10, after over a year of suspension, with four flights per week each to Jeddah and southern Indian city of Calicut.

The carrier, which aims to differentiate itself from competition by offering lower fares, said it had received over 400 bookings within four hours of restarting its website on October 10.

RAK Airways had suspended operations in May 2009 due to tough economic conditions in the wake of the global financial crisis.
