Air Arabia flight grounded by technical fault

An Air Arabia flight from India to Sharjah was grounded on Sunday after the discovery of a technical failure, leaving 160 passengers stranded.

The Airbus A320 flight was suspended prior to departure after engineers raised the alarm.

Indian media reports quoted airport sources as saying oil leaks had been discovered in the engine of the A320.

In a statement to Arabian Business, Air Arabia said the plane had suffered a technical fault, without giving any further details.

“[The flight] was rescheduled due to a technical requirement observed prior to departure,” the airline said in an emailed statement.

Passengers due to board the Sharjah-bound G9410 flight faced an overnight wait until the rescheduled flight departed on Monday.

Air Arabia operates 23 Airbus A320 aircraft, and has a further 44 on order.
