Online travel marketplace Wego has entered into a partnership with Gulf Air that will enable Wego users to take advantage of the airline’s flight-related data and booking facilities.

Dean Wicks, Wego’s Chief Flights Officer, commented: “Our agreement with Gulf Air reinforces Wego’s leading position in the Middle East and we are thrilled to partner with such a highly regarded and well-established carrier.

“Wego will distribute Gulf Air flights, pricing and schedule information across our extensive marketing channels, allowing travellers easy access to flights with an airline that is famous for its traditional Arabian hospitality and renowned for being family and business friendly.”

Last year, Wego introduced both Progressive Web App (PWA) technology and Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) into its mobile marketplace platform, which in turn dramatically improved load times and efficiency.

Additionally, Wego remains one of the highest ranked travel apps on both iOS and Android devices within the Middle East. Part of its popularity is due to its localisation support that covers more than 30 languages and currencies.

“Wego’s business is crucial to helping key industry providers extend into new markets in what’s become a fast-paced and highly competitive business,” added Wicks.

“Wego’s meta-search reaches millions of travellers each month looking for the best options for flights and hotels both here and abroad.”

To date, Gulf Air serves 42 cities in 25 countries across the globe. The national carrier of Bahrain also offers double daily flights or more to select destinations across the GCC, MENA region, Indian Subcontinent and Europe.
