Air India clarifies additional baggage offer for UAE travellers
Air India will also operate three weekly flights between Kolkata and Dubai.

Air India has stressed that the increased baggage allowance announced this week only refers to the recently launched service from Dubai to Indore.

The clarification was made following a report by news agency Press Trust of India which said all passengers travelling to the UAE by Air India would receive an additional 10kg of check-in luggage, from 30kg to 40kg.

However, Air India spokesperson Dhananjay Kumar is quoted by the Khaleej Times as saying: “The check-in baggage allowance for Indore-Dubai and Dubai-Indore is now increased to 40 kg from 30 kg. This isn’t a promotional one. It’s valid until another announcement.”

Dubai International Airport (DXB) welcomed Air India’s inaugural flights from the cities of Indore and Kolkata on Monday evening. The thrice-weekly service from Indore is the first international flight out of the city, which is the commercial capital of the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Air India will also operate three weekly flights between Kolkata and Dubai.

Following the new additions, DXB is now served by four Indian carriers operating 382 weekly flights to 20 destinations across India, which is the single largest destination country in terms of contribution to traffic volumes at DXB with 12.3 million passengers recorded in 2018.
