Jet Airways, an Indian international airline that has facing financial woes since the start of 2019, has declared that it has ceased all flight operations.

The carrier was forced to ground all its international and domestic flights after it failed to land emergency funding from lenders.

"It is with deep sadness and with a heavy heart that we would like to share with you that, effective immediately, Jet Airways will be suspending all its domestic and international operations,” read a message from Vinay Dube, CEO.

“Late last night we were informed by SBI, on behalf of the consortium of Indian lenders, that they are unable to consider our request for interim funding. Since no emergency funding from the lenders or any other source of funding was forthcoming, it would therefore not have been possible for us to pay for fuel or other critical services to keep the operations going.

The CEO noted in his message that travellers booked to fly with the airline will be updated on their flight status via text message, email or phone call.

“Guests who are impacted by the temporary suspension of flight operations can click here to request for a refund for their confirmed bookings. In case you have booked through a travel agent, please reach out to your travel agent to process the refund,” he added.

Update:

Etihad Airways has revealed that it is working with Jet Airways to help arrange travel arrangements for passengers affected by the sudden suspension of the Indian carrier's flight operations. According to an Etihad spokesperson, the airline is helping re-book affected passengers on the next available flight.
