UPDATE: British Airways passengers still stranded after catastrophic IT outage

Passenger outrage continues to build after receiving little response from British Airways staff for information on refunds, flights and luggage

British Airways passengers at London Heathrow continue to remain stranded as the airline struggles to recoup from a catastrophic global IT outage that has left it unable to function.

"I rebooked myself since BA never contacted me. Now I'm at Heathrow again, they have the doors barred unless your flight is in the next 1 and a half hours," according to passenger Krista White flying from LHR to Austin, Texas in the US.

BA's CEO has apologised to customers in a video posted on social media, saying staff are working "round the clock" to recover after a possible power supply outage wiped out the company's IT abilities.

However, it remains unlikely, according to experts, that British Airways will be able to re-accommodate passengers on Sunday. Doors at London Heathrow remain barred to entry unless passengers have confirmed flights.
