Staff at British Airways have called a 16 day strike over a pay dispute threatening to cause delays and cancellations to the airline's flights including in the Middle East.

The strike was first announced on June 16 and is scheduled to begin on June 30.

British Airways has said that "the vast majority of flights will proceed as normal," according to the Independent which has also found that flights to Doha and Muscat will likely be cancelled.

Meanwhile, British Airways has applied to the UK's civil aviation authority to allow it to use parent company Qatar Airways' planes which have been left idle in Doha after the Gulf-Qatar dispute which erupted last month.
