British Airways plans to resume its long-haul services from London to Dubai from Friday July 17.

The UK carrier is one of the first to confirm plans to operate direct flights to Dubai following the announcement this week that the emirate will start accepting tourists from July 7 next.

"Our current schedules show the LHR to DXB route will operate every other day from the 17th, and then daily from August 1," a spokesperson for the airline told The National.

The airline had operated an Airbus A350 on the route - which features the airline’s new business-class product, Club Suite - but aviation website Routes Online indicates that the flight from London Heathrow will initially be with a Boeing 777-200ER.

British Airways also plans to operate flights to Delhi and Mumbai as part of its plans to fly 29 long-haul routes in July.

Emirates airline said it plans to resume flying the A380 superjumbos to London, Paris.
