Gulf Air has released a video showing one of its aircraft being disinfected in an attempt to show customers it is taking additional measures to ensure their wellbeing.

The video, posted on LinkedIn, shows a cleaning team carrying out chemical disinfection in an aircraft cabin.

Emirates said last week that it had stepped up cleaning on its aircraft in response to the coronavirus threat and pledged to disinfect cabins where there have been suspected cases of the virus.

Chief operating officer Adel Al Redha said that the Dubai-based carrier is closely monitoring the situation and has taken a number of measures across the entire group to mitigate the impact. Measures have included providing medical advice to staff.

In the US, some airlines have banned refills on drinks and are instead providing passengers with a new cup each time they are given a drink.
