British Airways revamps catering for World Traveller customers

The new catering will be unveiled from 17 January 2018 and will continue to change every six months

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the travel experience of its passengers, British Airways has revealed plans to improve catering for its World Traveller offering.

Set to kick off from the 17 January 2018, passengers flying part of the long-haul economy cabin will not only be able to enjoy a range of new delicacies and refreshments but can also expect to see an updated menu every six months.

Carolina Martinoli, British Airways’ director of brand and customer experience, said: “Our customers tell us that when they’re taking a long-haul flight, great food and beverages make a real difference to them. It’s a huge driver of customer satisfaction so we want to make sure we deliver a great experience.

“With this multi-million pound investment we’ve focused on introducing more quantity and quality to the catering, delivering tasty meals and great snacking options throughout the flight.”

The airline has also revealed that it will be serving regional main meal options across its network, which includes offering acchari veg and dal palak on flights to and from Bangalore and Delhi. Passengers travelling to the Middle East on BA will be able to enjoy chicken in spicy Arabic Sauce.

“Our new four-course main meal has been developed by our team of chefs to be full of flavour at 35,000ft and we’ve created regional options depending on the route. The second meal option is either a tasty sandwich or a more substantial pizza wrap, both served with additional snacks, depending on the length of the flight,” added Martinoli.

BA previously announced an investment of $6.1bn (£4.5bn) over the next five years, which will cover the deployment of WiFi connectivity on its aircraft, fitting 128 long-haul aircraft with new interiors, as well as the delivery of 72 new aircraft. The airline is also investing $8.1m (£600m) in Club World, and is set to begin services to six new destinations.

The new options now available include:

•           Pretzels with the welcome drink

•           Four-course meal with starter, entrée, dessert, cheese and biscuits, accompanied by a bread roll and bottle of water

•           Second meal or substantial snack depending on the length of the flight

•           Regional meal options served according to destination

•           Magnum ice-creams

•           Tuck box with chocolates and crisps

•           Hot breakfast on longer overnight flights

•           Graze movie-snack box on longer flights

•           Complimentary drinks from the bar
