An unruly passenger in court for threatening to blow up a plane has been sentenced.
According to a Gulf News report, the 68-year-old Bahraini man was jailed for six months.
The man who was allegedly drunk at the time of the incident acted rudely towards a flight attendant after she refused to serve him alcohol and threatened to blow up the plane.
He also tried to force his way into Business Class, and suggested the flight attendant join him in the toilet.
Dubai Court of First Instance judge Mohammad Jamal ordered the defendant to be taken into immediate custody.
He was convicted of putting the plane and his fellow passengers’ safety at risk, and of breaching a stewardess’s modesty by making sexual gestures.
According to the report, the man was also referred to the Dubai Misdemeanours Court to be tried for the possession and consumption of alcohol.
The man was travelling with a bag full of liquor bottles purchased from the Bahrain Duty Free.
