Abdul Khaliq Saeed, CEO at Etihad Engineering, was bestowed with the prestigious Aviation Executive of the Year award.
Taking charge of 2,000 employees across 60 nations, Saeed is credited by his colleagues with making every person in the company feel a sense of belonging and being able to see the company’s success as their own.
Commenting on his award, Saeed said: "It feels great. I’d like to thank the judges for the award. At the same time, I believe this is a testimony to the excellent team that I have supporting me and who have made me win this award. The commitment from the team and the willingness to go the extra mile to deliver has been superb."
He has built direct channels of communicating with all staff and actively takes on their feedback and ideas.
Under Saeed, Etihad Engineering achieved the highest number of profitable man hours in its 30-year history in 2018. And 2018 was the best year in the company’s history in terms of profits.
The business is on track to meet and exceed even higher revenue targets in 2019. On-time operational performance levels are at an all-time high, having increased over the last 12 months by more than 30%, now staying at above 95% on average.
Saeed has filled up the traditionally slow months with carefully staggered inputs, leveraging international seasonal peaks to fill hangars and sustain high operational output throughout the year.
Under Saeed, Etihad Engineering completed the world’s first 12-year Airbus A380 maintenance check.
These are just some of the feats that the company has completed in recent months and under Saeed, Etihad Engineering has ambitions to achieve even more industry firsts in the coming year.
