Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, will no offer college and university students traveling with the airline to check in an addition 23-kilogram bag, free of charge.

A simple process, student passengers will only need to present their student ID cards to the check-in counter agents to benefit from the new policy.

Previously, such bonus allowances were sanctioned through airline offices and had to confirmed beforehand, often a few days ahead of the trip.

Commenting on the new policy, Krešimir Kučko, Gulf Air CEO said: “We know that students need more luggage to carry their books, laptops, winter clothes and so on. It is always a hassle for students to carefully pack their items when travelling for the academic year. Now, we want to make things easier for all students by allowing one extra bag of 23 kilos for each student flying to college or returning home for the summer”.

The move is the latest decision by the carrier to cater to travellers with distinct baggage requirements, such as the recently announced policy for extra allowance for athletes travelling with equipment like golf bags or bicycles.
