Announced in a pre-launch message on its official Twitter account, Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet has unveiled the launch of a new business class offering.

Going into effect from 11 May, SpiceJet will offer business travellers priority check-in and lounge access, along with spacious seating, gourmet meals and beverages during the flight.

The new business class seats will be introduced on the carrier’s newly acquired Boeing 737NGs, which were formerly operated by Jet Airways and received on lease.

SpiceJet will offer eight, 12 and 28 business-class seats on B737-700/800/900 aircraft respectively.

Travellers flying with the airline will be able to purchase business class tickets on domestic routes between popular destinations, such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Last month, the Gurugram-based carrier inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enter into a codeshare agreement with Emirates Airlines.

Once approved, the codeshare would initially add six Indian destinations into Emirates’ network: Amritsar, Jaipur, Pune, Mangalore, Madurai and Calicut.
