Expanding its executive leadership, SriLankan Airlines recently announced the appointments of Joshua Bustos as chief commercial officer and Shaminda Samaraweera as chief financial officer.
A veteran with over 20 years of experience working in the global aviation sector, Bustos has held a number of key positions in a number of airlines across the world. This includes tenures with American Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Tiger Airways, and Safi Airways, to name a few.
Additionally, Bustos served on the network sounding board and revenue management advisory board at Star Alliance during his time at South African Airways.
Appointed as the national carrier of Sri Lanka’s chief financial officer, Samaraweera brings over 15 years of senior-level corporate experience to the role.
Having worked across a variety of industries that includes telecommunications, banking and navigation, Samaraweera has held leadership positions in organisations, such as Etisalat Lanka, Ceylon Tobacco Company, Dialog Axiata PLC, and NAVTEQ North America.
The new CFO is currently a member of the Chartered Global Management Account (USA) and a fellow of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK).
Both Bustos and Samaraweera’s appointments were officially confirmed at the close of April.
