During the recent Dubai Airports Excellence Awards that were held at Soho Beach Meydan on 22 April 2019, Air France KLM group was revealed as the winner of the Sustainability Awad for 2018.
Committed to sustainable air travel, Air France has for the last couple of years aspired to reach CO2 emissions reduction of 20% by 2020. In January 2019, the airline launched in the UAE, a ‘Trip and Tree’ programme, which allows passengers flying from the UAE to donate to a tree-planting project.
Additionally, KLM has long been a leader in sustainability, a field it has focused on actively since 2008. Since that time, the carrier has had a Climate Action Plan in play with the goal of reducing CO2 emissions per passenger to 20% by 2020.
Commenting on the occasion, Yeshwant Pawar, General Manager for the Gulf, Saudi Arabia, Iran & Pakistan at Air France KLM, said: “The Air France KLM team is delighted to be recognised with an Excellence Award from Dubai Airports, for the third year running.

The 2019 Excellence Awards were held to celebrate the contributions to the airport experience undertaken by commercial service partners and airlines. Key areas of focus for the awards included customer service, operations, partnership, and sustainability.
Speaking at the awards, CEO Dubai Airports Paul Griffiths said: “This evening is a celebration not only of business achievement but it is also a celebration of the partnership. The partnership is woven into everything we do.
“It helps us deliver on our promise to surprise, delight and engage our customers with products, services and experiences that they will remember while reflecting the city’s energy and culture.
