Turkish Airlines has moved to expand its services to the UAE market. Starting from the 5 April 2019, the national carrier of Turkey will launch direct flights between Sharjah and Istanbul.
The addition of UAE’s third largest city to its portfolio helps to complement the airline’s existing services to Dubai International Airport, cargo operations in Al Maktoum International Airport, as well as its route to Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The move marks the latest development in Turkish Airline’s reach into the UAE, which began almost four decades ago.
The carrier is expected to operate flights from Sharjah International Airport, seven times a week in both directions. Passengers flying on the route will earn 1,000 miles for each ticket.
Ahmet Olmuştur, chief marketing officer of Turkish Airlines,” said: “Our aim with this new route is to meet the rising demand for greater international travel options into and out of Sharjah.
“The UAE is known for being a travel-hungry part of the world, and now, more customers can capitalize on Turkish Airlines’ unparalleled network of destinations as we continue to explore even more new routes. Turkish Airlines will be the only airline to fly between its new home base, Istanbul Airport and Sharjah.”
Turkish Airlines’ customers will be able to book a ticket from Sharjah to Istanbul for a price as low as 999 AED for the economy and 5,999 AED for business class. Additionally, passengers using the carrier can take advantage of flights from Sharjah to Europe for prices starting from 1,500 AED. Travellers can even organise trips to America for prices starting from 2,600 AED, as long as the booking is made prior to the 31 March, for trips until 3 July.
