A Jet Airways flight travelling from Mumbai to Jaipur was forced to return shortly after take-off, after at least 30 passengers reported suffering ear and nose bleeding.

Flight 9W-697, which was carrying 166 passengers and five crew members, was met by emergency crews and first responders upon arrival in Mumbai.

Believed to be a result of low cabin pressure during the initial ascent, initial speculation by the airline state the incident may have occurred to the crew forgetting what is aptly known as the ‘bleed switch’ prior to take-off.

As a result of the incident, Jet Airways remove the flight crew from the active list, while it oversees a probe to ascertain what occurred. At the same time, the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has reportedly launched its own investigation.
