A Transavia Airline flight travelling from Dubai to Amsterdam Schipol was forced to make an emergency landing when a fight broke out. It has been reported that the altercation occurred over one passenger’s alleged refusal to stop breaking wind.
The flatulent passenger is believed to have continued their rowdy behaviour despite requests from another traveller seated side-by-side to cease. It is also alleged that the crew of the budget airline did not assist in resolving the matter, which then led to a fight between the two individuals.
When warnings from both the crew and the pilot were ignored, the decision was made on board to divert the aircraft for an emergency landing at Vienna Airport.
Local police then boarded the aircraft and escorted two women and two men off the plane. The four passengers were later released without charge, though all have been banned from travelling with Transavia Airlines.
A statement released by the airline said: “Our crew must ensure a safe flight. When passengers pose risks, they immediately intervene. Our people are trained for that. They know very well where the boundaries are. Transavia is therefore square behind the cabin crew and the pilots.”
