A brand-new year can bring with it a swell of new opportunities for many. For us at AVB and the ITP Media Group, this is certainly the case and with that in mind, we’d like to announce the start of the leadup to the Aviation Business Awards 2019 industry.

Entering its 13th edition, preparations for this year’s iteration of the award, which is scheduled for the 9 October 2019, are well underway. The plan as of now is simple — build upon the success story of last year’s event that saw more than 250 of the industry’s elite join together to recognise the achievements of leading entities active within the realm of aviation.

Hosted last year at the Rixos Premium Dubai on the 9 October 2019, the 12th edition of the Aviation Business Awards drew a huge turnout of the region’s aviation elite. All were present to see last year’s prestige group of winners, which drew a few surprises amongst the crowd consisting of over 300 VIPs.

Notable awards winners included ExecuJet Middle East, which managed to secure the award for both Business Aircraft Operator of the Year and Fixed Base Operator (FBO) of the Year.

Over in the airline categories, Lufthansa Group and Oman Air were both recognised as the Airline of the Year for both the international and Middle East categories, respectively. For Low-Cost Airline of the Year, flydubai took home the prize.

Within the Airport of the Year category, Dubai International Airport (DXB) came out ahead of the pack.

Finally, the event’s most coveted award, the Aviation Executive of the Year, was won by none other than Ahmed Al Jallaf, Assistant Director-General for Air Navigation Services, UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

We are happy to announce that the award’s website will soon be launched and will include details on some of the new categories that we will be introducing this year, as well as information related to the nomination process. AVB is also happy to confirm that consideration and selection of this year’s judging panel are already being undertaken.

Aiming to uphold our long-standing tradition in hosting the most memorable and engaging aviation awards platform in the Middle East region, the AVB publication and ITP Media Group look forward to welcoming everyone in October to join us in welcoming this year’s group of winners.
