As part of the ongoing coverage of the upcoming Aviation Business Awards 2018, ITP Media Group is happy to present our group of judges who are tasked with the challenging proposition of selecting this year's winners.

The first judge in the spotlight is Leonard Favre, who currently serves as the managing director of the 1BlueHorizon Group, a position he has held for over a decade. During this time, Favre participated as a lecturer at the Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile in Toulouse, France, as well as serving briefly as a director at AlixPartners and the VP of business development & strategy at Maximus Air Cargo.
In addition to serving on the board of directors of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Associations (FIATA), where he previously held the position of president from 2003 to 2005, Issa Baluch is also a member of the board of the Dubai-based company Bectrum Investment International LLC.
An accomplished author with two published books focused on transport logistics and a Fellow of Harvard University’s Advanced Leadership Initiative (ALI) program, Baluch at one time held key executive positions in several freight logistics organisations spanning Africa, the Middle East, Far East, and North America. This includes serving as founder and CEO of Swift Freight International and a board member of the International Air Cargo Association (TIACA).
Our next judge is Miquel Ros, an entrepreneur, consultant and aviation enthusiast. In addition to managing Allplane, an independent site focused on the airline and air travel industry, Ros also works as a marketing advisor for Trovel, an online luxury travel and lifestyle club.
Prior to his current endeavours, Ros worked as the online editor at Flightglobal, an information source
for the aviation industry, and also worked as an e-commerce manager at Dobrolet, the low-cost airline of the Aeroflot Group.
Our final judge for the 2018 AVB Awards is Nick Humphrey, a partner at the Dubai office of Kennedys Law, a global law firm that that advises on insurance and claims, corporate and commercial activities, as well as regulatory and compliance issues. As part of his role at Kennedys, Humphrey heads the firm’s aviation and transport practice in the Middle East.
A specialist in aviation and transport liability claims, Humphrey has advised a range of companies in the field, which includes airlines, drone operators, ship managers, MROs, FBOs and their respective insurers.
He is the current chairperson and co-founder of the Royal Aeronautical Society’s Air Law Group - Middle East Chapter and is a director of the Australian Business Council of Dubai.
