Etihad Airways, flydubai and Maximus Air were amongst the big winners at this year's Aviation Business Awards, held at the Westin in Dubai on November 7.
The keynote speech was provided by Flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith, who later received the coveted Outstanding Achievement of the Year award for the airline's contribution to the aviation industry, while Flydubai also collected the Low-Cost Airline of the Year trophy.
Other winners of the night were Etihad Airways for full service Airline of the Year, Dubai International Airport for Airport of the Year, Qatar Executive for Business Aviation Operator of the Year, Dnata for Ground Handling Provider of the Year, and Maximus Air for Cargo Operator of the Year - Cargo or Charter Airline.
"ITP congratulates all the winners of tonight's awards," said Walid Akawi, CEO of ITP, the organisation behind the awards. "They represent the best in the industry and are true leaders in their field."
For the technology and training awards, Emirates Flight Catering won the award for Technology Implementation of the Year, Emirates Aviation College won Training and Education Provider of the Year, and Air Arabia won the Corporate Social Responsibility Award. Stefan Pichler of Jazeera Airways bagged the Personal Achievement of the Year award for turning the airline around and making it profitable.
A panel of five judges determined the winners on the basis of a blind voting system.
